List of Foods Containing High Gas

Many factors make you experience flatulence, belching, and frequent bowel movements. One reason is consuming foods that contain gas. Although classified as normal, but if too much gas in the body, can cause discomfort to shame when passing gas in public places. In general, the gas that comes out of the body, does not or only smells a little. Flue gas with a pungent odor generally occurs when bacteria from the intestine release sulfur content. Various Foods High in Gas Content

Most foods that contain high carbohydrates generally can cause a lot of gas production in the digestive tract. Meanwhile, foods containing fat and protein produce less gas. Although each person is different in processing food that enters the body, there are some foods that generally produce a lot of gas in the digestive tract, namely:
  • Beans

  • Beans are the food that produces the highest gas because they contain a lot of raffinosa, a complex sugar that makes it difficult for the body to digest it. Rafinosa is what produces hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane gas, which comes out through the rectum. Resulting in more frequent flue gas.
  • Vegetables

  • Many types of vegetables contain gas. Among these are asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cabbage, mushrooms, and onions, which contain a natural sugar called fructose. Like rafinosa, fructose contributes to gas production when bacteria in the intestine digest it.
  • Grains

  • Grains like wheat contain fiber, raffinose, and starch. All three can contribute to gas after being digested in the large intestine. Except for rice, the only grain that does not cause gas production.
  • Dairy products

  • Lactose is a sugar found in milk and most dairy products, including cheese and ice cream. In someone who experiences lactose intolerance, consumption of this type of product can cause increased gas production in the digestive tract.
  • Fruit

  • Apples, pears, and plums are types of fruit that contain natural alcohol sugar and sorbitol, making it difficult for the body to digest. This type of fruit can also produce hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane gas, after being digested by the intestines.
Chewing gum and smoking can also cause the body to excess gas, because it can make more air swallowed. In addition, many sugar-free gum is given artificial sweeteners, such as sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol. Though artificial sweeteners are more difficult to digest. Once you recognize a variety of foods that contain gas, then you should begin to limit the types of food in the daily diet. Especially if you feel uncomfortable because of excess gas in the body.
